The Morena party in Mexico has initiated internal selection processes to define leadership roles and candidacies ahead of the 2027 elections. This process includes the registration of various officials for federal district coordinations and deputy seats.

In Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo, municipal mayors have begun registering for these roles. For instance, the Mayor of Altamira registered for a federal deputy seat, while the Mayor of Tulum registered to compete for the coordination of Federal District 02. The party has indicated it will use surveys and gender parity criteria during these selections.

In Tabasco, the registration process has seen high-profile participants, including Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Bernardo Bosch. They have registered to participate in defining federal district coordinations for the party’s committees. The registration period for these specific district coordinations is scheduled from October 1 to October 4, 2026.
