Musician Marco Castoldi, known as Morgan, has criticized the Sanremo Music Festival during the Rome Film Festival while presenting his documentary, ‘Non importa dove’. Morgan argued that the festival has lost its musical soul and has become a mere spectacle, lacking musical competence and proper leadership.

He specifically questioned the broadcaster Rai’s approach to the event’s cultural importance. Morgan expressed skepticism regarding the potential appointment of Stefano De Martino in a leadership capacity, stating, “Those who do not know what songs are cannot direct the festival of song,” and noting that while De Martino is an excellent dancer, he lacks the necessary musical expertise to direct a song festival.
