Morocco is expanding its water desalination infrastructure to address drought and water scarcity. In the Casablanca-Settat region, a public-private partnership is developing the Sidi Rahal plant, which aims to produce 300 million cubic meters of water annually for drinking and irrigation using renewable energy.

In the Souss-Massa region, existing desalination efforts in Chtouka have already secured irrigation for 15,000 hectares. The government is planning further expansions to provide additional water for drinking and agriculture in areas including Agadir and Taroudant.
