In early July, Veracruz professor Fernando Mendoza highlighted a surge in risky motorcycle behavior following a near-miss collision. Citing a University of Veracruz study, he noted widespread rule violations and low helmet use, calling for municipal road-education programs to address what he described as a “metamorphosis” on local streets.

Later that month, Carlos Sánchez, a delegate for the Federación Rodando y Creando Cultura para el Motociclista, warned parents about the dangers of allowing unlicensed, under-age children to ride low-cost motorcycles without protective gear. His training includes a vivid exercise asking participants to imagine which body part they could lose in a serious crash.

On 24 July, students from the Universidad Popular Autónoma de Veracruz (UPAV) in Boca del Río launched the “Ponte el Casco, No vueles” campaign. Targeting roughly 500 residents, the initiative provides guidance on helmet use, maintenance, and speed limits, culminating on 25 July with expert sessions on injury prevention.

By mid-August, the focus expanded to include technical riding advice. Gerardo Gutiérrez García, a motorcycle championship organizer, emphasized that personal protective equipment is the “essential starting point” for risk reduction. Specialists also began addressing the dangers of lane splitting, recommending that riders occupy a full, defined lane and use turn signals and horns more effectively to improve road communication.
