The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão has hosted major endurance racing series, including the conclusion of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and the Michelin Le Mans Cup. 

In the ELMS LMGT3 class, Team Qatar by Iron Lynx secured third place in the final standings. Despite Abdulla Al-Khelaifi securing pole position, a pit-speeding penalty dropped the #62 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 to eighth place, while the #63 crew faced retirement for Ameerh Naran following contact with an LMP2 car. Lilou Wadoux led the Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 to a seventh-place finish in both qualifying and the 4-hour race. This result concluded a season where the team finished 11th out of 14 in the team standings, with Wadoux placing 29th in the driver rankings.

In the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Matteo Cressoni and Reinhold Krahn finished fourth in the championship. Their performance was impacted by an early race incident involving contact between other vehicles that damaged their Porsche 992 GT3 R. Although the team repaired the vehicle and Cressoni recorded the fastest stint on track, time lost during pit repairs prevented a higher finish.

Following these championships, the GT World Challenge 2026 season concludes in Portimão from October 16 to 18. This event features over 60 GT3 cars and 10 manufacturers, including the series debut of Max Verstappen with Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing. While the Endurance Cup titles have been decided, the Portimão event will determine the champions for the Gold Cup and Bronze Cup.
