Recent hiking incidents in Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong have necessitated various emergency rescue operations.

In Taiwan, separate incidents involved an 18-year-old student lost on Mt. Gali in Miaoli County and a 45-year-old man with a foot injury on Nanhu Mountain. The latter required a helicopter airlift by the National Airborne Service Corps and was subsequently fined 20,000 TWD for lacking mandatory insurance and first aid capabilities.

In China, two students were rescued from a restricted zone in Yunnan’s Habba Snow Mountain after one suffered a femur fracture at high altitude. They were fined 8,000 yuan and ordered to pay over 90,000 yuan in rescue costs. In Hong Kong, an elderly woman was airlifted by the Government Flying Service after experiencing suspected heatstroke at Po To Tsai.
