Following an official visit to the Republic of the Congo, where he met with President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Mozambique and Congo signed approximately ten agreements. These pacts aim to create a logistical axis between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans by linking Congolese port capacities with Mozambican ports such as Maputo, Beira, and Nacala. The cooperation focuses on sectors including oil and gas, mining, forestry, and tourism. Concurrently, President Chapo has focused on internal economic development within Mozambique, specifically advocating for increased financial support for small businesses in Sofala province. To stimulate job creation, the government announced it will double the resources allocated to the Local Economic Development Fund this year.
