Municipalities in Mexico, the United States, and Italy are implementing large-scale transitions from traditional street lighting to LED technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

In Camargo, Mexico, officials have replaced yellow lighting fixtures in Plaza de la Novena with LED technology to enhance visibility and reduce electricity consumption. Similarly, Portland, Oregon, completed a multi-year project replacing approximately 50,000 sodium streetlights, resulting in a 50% reduction in energy use and projected annual savings of $1.5 million.

In Italy’s Marche region, local governments are also upgrading infrastructure. Montemarciano is replacing 400 light points to reduce installed power by approximately 50%, while Montefano has contracted to overhaul its entire network. The Montefano project aims to cut energy consumption by 68%, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 98 tons annually, and mitigate light pollution through improved beam orientation.
