Municipalities in Medellín, Colombia, and Torrevieja, Spain, have confirmed their respective plans for public lighting.

In Medellín, local administration and Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) stated that traditional Christmas lighting displays will proceed as scheduled. Officials addressed concerns regarding the El Niño phenomenon and low reservoir levels, noting that the LED-based holiday displays represent a marginal fraction of the city’s total energy expenditure.

In Torrevieja, the City Council awarded a contract for new ornamental public lighting to Iluminaciones Granja S.L. The contract, valued at approximately 758,510 euros, includes a commitment to faster response times for urgent repairs, though the final plan omits certain previously considered enhancements like video mapping.
