Munster Rugby is preparing to host Racing 92 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork for an Investec Champions Cup match that serves as a ten-year tribute to former captain and coach Anthony Foley. Foley, known as ‘Axel’, passed away in 2016 due to acute pulmonary edema in France just before a scheduled match against Racing 92.

To commemorate the anniversary, the club has announced several tributes, including retiring the number 8 jersey for the match, a jersey swap between captains, and the wearing of commemorative jackets. The Shannon RFC choir is also scheduled to perform ‘There Is An Isle’.

In response to supporter criticism regarding the choice of venue, Munster stated that the decision to play in Cork was finalized in March, prior to the Champions Cup draw. The club maintained that the venue selection aligns with its goal of bringing major rugby events to supporters throughout the province.
