French authorities are investigating the murder of Larissa Brito dos Santos, a 25-year-old Brazilian model. Her dismembered body was discovered on September 21, 2026, hidden in plastic bags within the trunk of a car on the A8 motorway near Brignoles during a routine customs check.

A 29-year-old man identified as Mathieu was arrested at the scene. While he denies responsibility, investigators noted that the victim’s apartment in Nice had been thoroughly cleaned and emptied. Surveillance footage reportedly shows a suspect leaving the residence with several bags.

The victim’s mother stated that Larissa had previously ended her relationship with the suspect due to his history of violence and alleged ties to criminal circles. She also claimed he had been stalking and threatening her daughter. A final WhatsApp message sent by the victim to her mother shortly before her disappearance read, ‘Mathieu is here’.
