The investigation followed the disappearance of Jasmine Gill, an Indian immigrant and registered nurse, who was last seen at her home on September 30. During the initial investigation, Gurinder Gill claimed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had detained his wife while she was retrieving mail. However, ICE officials confirmed that no enforcement operations had occurred at the residence, exposing inconsistencies in his account. On October 1, investigators discovered burned human remains buried in El Dorado County. DNA testing confirmed the remains belonged to Jasmine Gill. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office noted that the couple was involved in an ongoing divorce and child custody dispute at the time of the disappearance. Gurinder Gill is currently being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: California man arrested for alleged murder of wife Gurinder Gill has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife, Jasmine Gill, after falsely claiming ICE agents had taken her into custody. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/california-man-arrested-for-alleged-murder-of-wife ### 2026-10-20: California man charged with murder after wife's remains found Gurinder Gill has been charged with murder in California after investigators debunked his claim that ICE agents detained his wife, Jasmine Gill, whose burned remains were later discovered. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/california-man-charged-with-murder-after-falsely-claiming-ice-detained-wife --- Cite as: Murder investigation of Jasmine Gill in California.
