Madhusudan “Mad” Sandhu, a prominent Punjabi social media influencer, makeup artist, and LGBTQ+ activist, was shot dead on the evening of October 3 near a car wash on Loharka Road in Amritsar. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene. Sandhu succumbed to his wounds while being transported to a hospital. Following the attack, a social media account using the name “Goldy Dhillon” claimed responsibility, alleging that Sandhu was negatively influencing the youth of Punjab. The incident triggered political criticism regarding the law and order situation in the state. As the investigation progressed, Amritsar Police Commissioner Harmanbir Singh Gill stated that preliminary findings suggest the killing was a planned incident, and authorities began investigating the possibility of a contract killing involving criminal gangs.
