Coimbra is hosting several musical initiatives and festivals. The “Café Curto” music cycle is returning to the Café Concerto at Convento São Francisco, a program funded by the Coimbra City Council that focuses on supporting emerging music and artistic creation through weekly showcases.

The sixth edition of the ‘Action Packed’ festival, promoted by the Boppin’ Coimbra cultural association in partnership with the Oficina Municipal de Teatro, is taking place from September 17 to 20. Celebrating 1950s Rockabilly culture, the event features international bands and DJs from Europe and North America, including performers such as Kathleen Winters and The Checkmates, The Round Up Boys, Mischief!, Ike and The Capers, 49 Special, and Die Marksmen. The festival includes concerts, a used goods fair, a photographic exhibition by Francisco Olivera, and a showcase of classic vehicles.

Following this, the 24th Jazz ao Centro Festival will run from October 1 to 10. The festival emphasizes educational outreach to local schools and municipalities, including Miranda do Corvo, Pampilhosa da Serra, Lousã, and Mortágua. The event kicks off on World Music Day with an exhibition titled ‘As mulheres no Jazz em Portugal’ by Márcia Lessa, as organizers seek to use arts and culture as transformative tools for children and youth.
