In early October, various groups hosted events for social support. The National Youth Brass Band of the Salvation Army scheduled a concert in Elst to benefit Stichting Leergeld, an organization assisting children from low-income families. Additionally, the Muziekkoepel Nering Bögel raised 750 euros for IPSO Centrum Salland, a center providing support for cancer patients and caregivers. Other musical activities focused on local traditions and international ties. In Banholt and Terhorst, the Harmonie and Klaroenkorps Amicitia held their annual Kermiszondag procession, though officials noted a decline in public interest. Meanwhile, in Hoogezand-Sappemeer, a long-standing connection with Ukraine is being marked by upcoming performances from the Kyiv-based choirs Dzvinochok and Vognyk. Due to the war in Ukraine, the Dzvinochok choir’s composition has changed, as some members are involved in national defense or unable to leave the country. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Musical traditions connect communities in the Netherlands Musical traditions in the Netherlands range from local village processions in Banholt and Terhorst to international choral performances connecting Hoogezand-Sappemeer with choirs from Kyiv. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/musical-traditions-connect-communities-in-the-netherlands ### 2026-10-01: Dutch musical groups host charity performances Dutch musical groups are hosting community performances to raise funds for charities, including Stichting Leergeld and IPSO Centrum Salland. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dutch-musical-groups-host-charity-performances --- Cite as: Musical community activities in the Netherlands.
