Local musical institutions in Avellaneda have recently marked significant milestones. The Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda (EMPA) celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Teatro Roma. During this event, Mayor Magdalena Sierra announced a municipal subsidy to purchase a Yamaha piano for the school’s main auditorium. The ceremony also recognized the EMPA Tango Orchestra for winning the 2026 Carlos Gardel Award for Best Orchestra Album.

Additionally, Mayor Sierra attended celebrations for the 13th anniversary of the ‘Creer es Crear’ orchestra in Villa Corina and the 14th anniversary of ‘El Docke Musical’ in Villa Inflamable. The ‘Creer es Crear’ orchestra, which provides free public musical education to 87 children and adolescents, was supported by local fundraising efforts to acquire new instruments.
