Preparations for the Mysuru Dasara festival have commenced with a focus on animal training and cultural programming. Initial efforts included cannon-firing drills to acclimatize 13 elephants and 40 Mounted Police horses to loud noises. Officials are currently evaluating four shortlisted elephants—Mahendra, Ekalavya, Sugreeva, and Dhananjaya—to determine which will carry the golden howdah following the retirement of the previous elephant, Abhimanyu.

As celebrations progress, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar announced that the festivities will include a Tulu Nadu tableau and the traditional Kambala buffalo race. Trial runs for the Kambala race have been conducted near the VTU Regional Centre in Sathagalli, with organizers coordinating logistical support such as water supplies and transportation services for spectators and animals.
