The Japan women’s national football team, Nadeshiko Japan, embarked on a European tour in October 2026 under manager Michihisa Kano. The squad announcement featured first-time call-up for Crystal Palace midfielder Fuka Tsunoda, though the team dealt with several injuries to players including Mamiko Matsumoto, Riko Ueki, Minami Tanaka, and Toya Moriya.

During the tour, the team played an international friendly against Germany on October 13. Despite an early goal in the 15th minute by Momoko Tanigawa, Japan suffered a 1-2 comeback defeat. The team is scheduled to face Brazil in two matches in Hiroshima and Okayama later in the year.
