An investigation began in Gönyeli after police patrolling on August 22, 2026, discovered a stationary vehicle containing two residents of Güzelyurt, identified as E. D. and Y. D. One suspect, Y. D., was found unconscious inside the vehicle.

During the initial search, officers seized a piece of paper suspected of containing narcotics and two cigarette butts believed to be mixed with tobacco and drugs. Although a court-ordered search of the suspects’ residence in Güzelyurt yielded no illegal items, the seized substances were sent to the State Chemistry Laboratory for analysis.

Following subsequent blood analysis, the presence of synthetic cannabinoid (bonzai) was confirmed in the suspects’ samples. Consequently, both siblings have been remanded in custody pending trial.
