Authorities in Albania have intercepted significant narcotics shipments at the Port of Durrës. In mid-September, police seized approximately 41.35 kilograms of cocaine, valued at an estimated 2 million euros, which was hidden in the lids of a container arriving from Brazil. The container was officially documented to be transporting chicken meat.

This seizure was part of a coordinated police operation codenamed ‘Anchor 3’. Experts noted that this incident represents the third attempt to smuggle narcotics through the port within a single month, suggesting that trafficking routes from Latin America to Albania have become consolidated. Criminology expert Ervis Karamuço observed that such cocaine is often processed within Albanian territory before being distributed to European cities.
