Sources: 11. Developments: 2. Details regarding an upcoming live-action ‘Naruto’ film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton have emerged through industry leaks and synopses. Early reports indicated the film would adapt the initial arc of Masashi Kishimoto’s manga, specifically mirroring the ‘Land of Waves’ arc involving characters such as Zabuza and Haku. Subsequent leaks suggest the production, potentially titled ‘Naruto: Mission to the Land of Waves’, may be a Lionsgate project scheduled to begin filming in the United Kingdom in early 2027. These reports indicate significant departures from the original source material, including character adjustments for Sakura and Sasuke, as well as a revised explanation for the Jinchuriki concept, suggesting the ability to host a Tailed Beast is determined by bloodline rather than random occurrence. Recent leaks have further detailed these narrative shifts, noting that Sakura Haruno may be depicted as a more powerful character from the beginning, hailing from a wealthy family. Romantic dynamics are also expected to change; Sasuke is reportedly said to have feelings for Sakura, while Naruto will be characterized as a student of ninja history without a romantic interest in her. The film is expected to target a PG-13 rating and feature a tone similar to Marvel films. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Naruto live-action film leaks reveal major character and plot changes Leaked plot details for the live-action ‘Naruto’ film suggest major changes to character dynamics and the Jinchuriki concept, sparking debate among the fanbase. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/naruto-live-action-movie-leaks-reveal-plot-and-character-changes ### 2026-09-28: Naruto live-action movie plot synopsis revealed A leaked synopsis for the Naruto live-action film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton suggests the movie will adapt the manga's first major arc, focusing on Naruto's first mission with Team 7. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/naruto-live-action-movie-plot-synopsis-revealed --- Cite as: Naruto live-action film production details.
