Developments: 2. The Nashville Predators finalized their 23-man roster for the 2026–27 NHL season, which began on October 1 against the Minnesota Wild. The initial roster included players such as Juuse Saros, Roman Josi, and Steven Stamkos. By mid-October, the team faced lineup adjustments following losses to the Senators and Golden Knights. Head coach Andrew Brunette moved toward a rotation of 12 forwards and 6 defensemen. The team also managed several injuries, including Juuse Saros starting in goal while backup Justus Annunen remained on injured reserve, and forward Mavrik Bourque being listed as day-to-day. On October 15, the Predators suffered their third consecutive defeat in a 3-2 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks. Despite a third-period power-play goal by Ryan O’Reilly and a late tying goal by Steven Stamkos with only 0.8 seconds remaining in regulation, Nashville could not secure the win. In the shootout, Macklin Celebrini scored the decisive goal for San Jose. Juuse Saros recorded 30 saves in the contest. Following the loss, Predators defensemen noted a need for “greater consistency and limiting high-quality scoring chances” ahead of their upcoming matchup against the St. Louis Blues. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: San Jose Sharks defeat Nashville Predators in shootout The San Jose Sharks beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 in a shootout, highlighted by Macklin Celebrini’s decisive goal and Steven Stamkos’s last-second equalizer. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nashville-predators-face-san-jose-sharks-in-nhl-matchup ### 2026-09-28: Nashville Predators finalize roster for season opener The Nashville Predators have announced their 23-man roster for the 2026–27 season opener against the Minnesota Wild at Bridgestone Arena on October 1. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nashville-predators-finalize-roster-for-season-opener --- Cite as: Nashville Predators 2026–27 NHL season.
