The Nashville Predators have initiated a defensive restructuring, beginning with the acquisition of defenseman Jayden Struble from the Montreal Canadiens. In exchange for Struble, the Canadiens received a 2027 second-round draft pick.

This trade is viewed as the first step in a broader effort by general manager Chris MacFarland to rebuild the Predators’ blueline. The move addresses critical defensive needs following the departures of key players such as Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis, and aims to provide better support for goaltender Juuse Saros amid recent struggles with defensive consistency.
