Construction has officially commenced on the National Children's Hospital in the Blato district of Zagreb, Croatia. The project, valued between approximately 230 and 240 million euros, is intended to centralize pediatric care by consolidating services from the Klaićeva Children's Hospital and the Vinogradska maternity ward.

The facility is designed to span over 53,000 square meters and will include roughly 200 inpatient beds and 100 day-hospital beds. The project aims to be Croatia's first carbon-neutral hospital, with up to 80% of its energy sourced from solar and geothermal renewables. Nearly 90% of the funding is provided by the European Regional Development Fund.

Completion is projected by the end of 2029. Health Minister Irena Hrstić noted that the project represents a significant investment in the Croatian healthcare system. The timeline for treating the first patients will depend on the procurement of medical equipment, which is scheduled for 2029.
