The National Theatre of Greece has staged productions of Aristophanes’ comedy ‘Peace’ at various ancient sites. 

In late July, a performance at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus directed by Nikos Karathanis was interrupted by heavy rain that turned the orchestra pit into a lake, though the production resumed the following day to a standing ovation. 

In August, the production was presented at the Dion Ancient Theatre as part of the 55th Olympus Festival. This staging, also directed by Nikos Karathanos, utilized music and dance to frame the ancient text as a condemnation of violence and a message of hope regarding contemporary global issues.
