The redevelopment of the Naxos Indoor Gymnasium is currently underway, involving the construction of training fields, an outdoor gymnasium, and a new 100-meter retaining wall following a section collapse in December 2025. Work includes the development of an 8x8 football pitch, with a revised contractual completion date of March 9, 2027.

Due to the extensive renovation of both indoor and outdoor sports facilities, local athletic associations have faced significant operational disruptions. In response, the Municipal Committee for Primary and Secondary Education has recommended that the Municipal Council allow sports clubs to use seven school athletic spaces, including various primary and secondary school courts and courtyards, to facilitate continued training.
