Heavy rainfall in Nepal has impacted various hydropower facilities, necessitating both preventative measures and infrastructure repairs.

At the Kulekhani Hydropower Project in Makawanpur, authorities have been operating all three units at full capacity to manage rising reservoir levels. To prevent the reservoir from exceeding safe limits, the project is maximizing electricity production to balance inflows from seven catchment areas. A three-tier siren system has been established to alert the public if water levels reach 1,527 meters, which would require opening the spillway gates.

Separately, the Rahughat Hydropower Project has resumed power generation following flood damage caused by the Kali Gandaki River on September 27. The flooding damaged a tailrace gate and inundated the powerhouse, forcing a shutdown. Following 11 days of repairs, one 20 MW unit has returned to operation, with work continuing to restore the second unit.
