Following devastating floods in Nepal, specifically affecting the Bhotekoshi and Nuwakot regions, members of the Nepali film industry have initiated various relief efforts. In early September, the production team for the film ‘Behuli’ announced they would donate 5 percent of the producer’s share of total box-office earnings to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. This decision followed a temporary suspension of the film’s promotional activities out of respect for the natural disaster. Later in the month, the production of ‘Elephants in the Fog’ expanded relief efforts through international and local channels. Following a screening at the Toronto Film Festival, the filmmakers organized a Kathmandu screening to direct proceeds to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. They also partnered with the Zonta Club and Rotary Clubs to assist children impacted by the Bhotekoshi flooding. Additionally, international distribution partners planned a screening in Paris to continue fundraising for Nepal’s relief efforts. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-19: Nepali film Elephants in the Fog supports flood relief efforts Nepali film ‘Elephants in the Fog’ is leveraging its international festival run to raise funds for flood relief in Nepal, specifically supporting the Nuwakot district and the Kinnar community. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nepali-film-elephants-in-the-fog-supports-flood-relief-efforts ### 2026-09-06: Behuli film makers pledge flood relief funds at trailer launch The makers of the Nepali film ‘Behuli’ launched their official trailer in Kathmandu and pledged 5% of the producer's box-office earnings to flood victims in the Bhotekoshi region. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/behuli-film-makers-pledge-flood-relief-funds-at-trailer-launch --- Cite as: Nepali film industry flood relief initiatives.
