Sources: 8. Developments: 2. The release of the Netflix biopic ‘Reagan’ has faced both critical scrutiny and promotional challenges. Initial reviews criticized the film, starring Dennis Quaid, as “dishonest and boring,” questioning its historical accuracy and noting that it was financed by private investors after being rejected by major studios. Following these critiques, producer Mark Joseph accused YouTube and Facebook of suppressing promotional content. Joseph claimed the platforms misclassified interview clips as election advertising, despite his assertion that the content focuses on the film rather than political campaigns. YouTube responded that certain advertisements triggered U.S. election ads policies because they referenced officeholders, requiring advertiser certification. Amidst these disputes, a director’s cut featuring 10 additional minutes of footage is scheduled for a theatrical release in approximately 600 theaters on September 25. Additionally, a poll by Foundations of Freedom ranked Quaid’s portrayal as the third favorite presidential performance in film and television. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-19: Reagan biopic producer disputes YouTube ad restrictions Producer Mark Joseph claims YouTube is suppressing ads for the ‘Reagan’ biopic by misclassifying them as election advertising.
