After reaching the second position on global series charts within a day, the series climbed to the number one spot on the streaming platform by September 14. The series follows 16-year-old rowing champion Teagan Tao, played by Miku Martineau, as she navigates life at Easton Prep in New England. The narrative explores themes of wealth disparity and teen romance, including a love triangle, while centering on Teagan’s transition after her father, a hotel magnate, disappears amid allegations of financial crimes. Production for the first season was filmed in Victoria, British Columbia, during the autumn of 2025. By September 18, the eight-part production solidified its status as an international streaming hit, reaching the number one spot in 39 countries. Following this momentum, Netflix officially renewed the series for a second season on September 21. While an official release date for Season 2 has not been announced, lead actors including Miku Martineau, Jessica Paré, Sam Braun, and Kyle Clark are expected to return. Critical reception has been mixed. While some analysis suggests the show illustrates new genre codes where sports serve as a catalyst for tension and desire, ‘Variety’ criticized the series for lacking depth, describing the plot as ‘artificial and little credible’ and noting an accumulation of genre clichés. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-10: Netflix renews teen drama series Crew Girl for season 2 Netflix has renewed the teen rowing drama ‘Crew Girl’ for a second season despite mixed critical reviews regarding its plot and depth. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/netflix-renews-teen-drama-series-crew-girl-for-season-2 ### 2026-09-24: Netflix renews Canadian teen drama Crew Girl for season 2 Netflix has renewed the popular Canadian teen drama “Crew Girl” for a second season following its global Top 10 success.
