Water management and ecological restoration efforts are underway across various regions in the Netherlands. In the Drents Overijsselse Delta (WDODelta) area, projects are being launched to improve biodiversity and water quality. These include redesigning marsh zones in the Natura 2000 De Wieden area to improve water flow and constructing over ten kilometers of nature-friendly banks near Broekland and Laag Zuthem to facilitate fish migration.

On a broader scale, Rijkswaterstaat has scheduled information sessions for autumn 2026 to discuss management plans for the Wadden Sea and the North Sea coast following research into environmental decline. Additionally, the Waterveiligheid en Ruimte Limburg (WRL) program has extended its subsidy deadline to April 30, 2027, to provide funding for flood prevention measures in Limburg.
