The New England Aquarium has voiced its support for a proposed flood protection plan in Boston. This initiative follows the release of a Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Programmatic Environmental Assessment, which resulted from a Coastal Storm Risk Management Study led by the City of Boston and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Aquarium President and CEO Vikki N. Spruill described the comprehensive system plan as a “necessary and wise investment in Boston’s future.” The project is designed to protect public and private assets, as well as lives, from the impacts of sea level rise and coastal flooding events like storm surges and king tides.
