New York state and city officials have been involved in various public community events and demonstrations. On October 2, Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and other leaders attended an annual Sukkah celebration in Crown Heights. During the event, Mayor Mamdani received a mezuzah, an act that sparked discussions regarding Jewish law and the sanctity of the object when presented to non-Jewish officials.

On October 12, Governor Hochul participated in the 82nd annual Columbus Day parade in Manhattan alongside Attorney General Letitia James and Catholic leaders. During the march, Hochul was heckled by observers who shouted insults. Mayor Mamdani did not attend the parade, citing ideological opposition to Christopher Columbus.
