North Wales Police launched an investigation, designated as Operation Melex, following the discovery of a newborn baby's body on the Menai Strait shoreline near Siliwen Road in Bangor on Sunday, September 27.

Authorities have prioritized locating the infant's mother, expressing concern for her health and wellbeing. Fiona Giraud, Director of Midwifery and Women's Services for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, noted the mother may be “extremely vulnerable” and potentially fearful of seeking help.

As the investigation continues, police have maintained a presence and cordons in the Bangor area.
