Following a postgame altercation during a game against the Buffalo Bills, the NFL suspended Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson for two games without pay. The suspension was issued after television footage showed Jackson striking Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face during jersey exchanges at SoFi Stadium.

The league cited a violation of Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, regarding acts contrary to the principles of sportsmanship. While the initial ruling would have caused Jackson to miss games against the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders, the penalty was later reduced.

Following an appeal heard by officer Derrick Brooks, the suspension was reduced to one game. Jackson is expected to miss the game against the Cardinals but will be eligible to return to the active roster on October 19. Rams head coach Sean McVay noted that the team must make better decisions to ensure player availability, with David Quessenberry expected to replace Jackson at left tackle.

New details regarding the confrontation indicate the incident was triggered by verbal provocation. Chubb stated he approached Jackson to engage in trash talk, telling the lineman that certain players would not be able to save him in future matchups. This exchange prompted Jackson to throw a punch that knocked Chubb’s hat off. While Jackson received a one-game suspension for the punch, the NFL also fined Chubb $14,329 for his role in the skirmish, specifically for taunting.
