The NHK Taiga drama “Toyotomi Kyodai!” continues to draw high viewership and intense discussion, though it remains embroiled in controversy regarding historical accuracy. Ibaraki City and Takeda City have issued a joint letter to NHK expressing regret over the portrayal of Nakagawa Kiyohide, specifically a scene where Maeda Toshiie is depicted assassinating him and throwing his head. Other criticized inaccuracies include the depiction of Shibata Katsuie’s death and a story involving Tokugawa Ieyasu and a bird. As the series transitions through the “Yamato Koriyama” arc, NHK introduced new cast members including Kentaro Ito as Ishikawa Seibei, Shotaro Mamiya as Saizo, Tatsutarou Kataoka as painter Kano Eitoku, and Ryotaro Sakaguchi as the monk Bankaku. Recent narrative developments focus on Hidenaga’s governance of Yamato Province and his struggles against the economic and military influence of Kofuku-ji temple. The departure of the vassal Hashiba Masakatsu has also elicited emotional responses from viewers. Beyond the broadcast, the series has inspired a special exhibition at the Edo-Tokyo Museum, featuring historical artifacts such as a letter from Toyotomi Hideyoshi to Hidenaga sent during the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Toyotomi Kyodai!
