Nicaraguan diplomatic representatives commemorated the 47th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on August 21, 2026. 

During the commemorations, officials visited the birthplace of Kim Il Sung to lay a floral offering on behalf of Co-Presidents Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Rosario Murillo Zambrana. The visit included a tour of the Memorial Museum and the site of a tree planted by the Co-Presidents during a 1986 visit. The Nicaraguan mission also presented a congratulatory message to President Kim Jong Un to celebrate nearly five decades of cooperation.
