Director Nicolas Winding Refn has announced his return to feature filmmaking with the science fiction thriller ‘Her Private Hell’. Set in a futuristic Japan, the film follows a character named Elle, played by Sophie Thatcher, as she searches for her father—a famous director and former American soldier—within a metropolis enveloped in a deadly, mysterious fog. The production features an international cast including Charles Melton, Diego Calva, Kristine Froseth, and Havana Rose Liu.

Following its presentation out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival, the film has seen various international release and promotional activities. Distributed by MUBI, it was scheduled for release in Mexican cinemas on September 24, 2026, with a subsequent German release planned for November 12, 2026.

Promotional events are also taking place in Italy. On September 28, 2026, the Visionario and Cinemazero venues in Udine and Pordenone will host a special double feature consisting of a 4K restored screening of ‘Drive’ and a preview of ‘Her Private Hell’, which includes a streaming connection with the director moderated by critic Mattia Carzaniga.
