Argentine defender Nicolás Tagliafico has addressed both his international career and his views on domestic football. At 34 years old, the Olympique Lyonnais player indicated he is in the “home stretch” of his time with the Argentina national team, noting the need for the squad to prepare for a future transition following the eventual retirement of Lionel Messi.

Tagliafico also expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Argentine Primera División. He criticized the league’s organizational structure, specifically the complex tournament formats, stating they have caused him to “lose the love for Argentine football.” While he has not ruled out a return to the Argentine league after his contract with Lyon expires in June 2027, he noted such a move would depend on the quality of available projects.
