The Nigerian Federal Government has undertaken significant infrastructure spending and planning initiatives focused on road rehabilitation and transport modernization.

Minister of Works Senator Dave Umahi reported that over N250 billion has been spent over the last three years to complete more than 260 emergency road projects and reconstruct bridges in every state. To maintain transparency, the administration has invited the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to audit procurement and execution. Specific maintenance efforts include remedial work on the Eko Bridge in Lagos and security deployment for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

Building on these efforts, the Federal Executive Council approved over N610 billion for nationwide road reconstruction and upgrading, utilizing public-private partnership (PPP) concessions. This includes a N159.826 billion contract for the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun State border road. Furthermore, the Federal Ministry of Transportation has initiated a 20-year PPP to establish the Smart National Transport Databank (SNTDB), a centralized, real-time transport data system intended to improve evidence-based planning.
