# Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts documentary competition

The inaugural Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts (NPCA), a US$20,000 award sponsored by Nigeria LNG (NLNG), has progressed through its initial selection stages for the documentary category. 

In early August 2026, the NPCA announced a shortlist of eleven documentary entries selected from 98 submissions. These entries were required to interpret the theme of ‘Identity’ and were produced by Nigerian creators aged 18 to 35. 

By late August 2026, the competition narrowed the selection to five finalists: Peter Oghenetega Oke for ‘Beyond Tarkwa Bay’, Feranmi Abiola for ‘Mara Mania’, Ummi Bukar for ‘No Food for Lazy Man’, Abraham Ayodele Aiwuyuse for ‘Okrika’, and Jessica Chinyere for ‘Women of Salt: The Resilience of Ebonyi’s Women’. The prize aims to support emerging talent in telling original stories regarding Nigerian culture and national identity.
