Nigeria’s tourism and creative economy drive has intensified through calls for digital transformation, infrastructure upgrades, and regional partnerships. At the 9th Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE) in late July and early August 2026, Minister Hannatu Musawa urged operators to adopt sustainability and digital innovation to remain globally competitive, linking these efforts to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Industry stakeholders, including FTAN President Dr Aliyu Badaki, emphasized the need to resolve fragmented operations and overlapping statutes. Key demands from the forum included modernized airports, improved roads, a dedicated tourist police, and streamlined regulations to attract investment.

Parallel efforts to bolster the creative economy include federal reforms to regulate emerging technologies like AI and strengthen the digital economy. On a regional level, Minister Musawa collaborated with the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to develop cultural tourism in the Warri Kingdom.

State governments are also pursuing localized growth through private-sector hospitality partnerships. In Lagos, officials met with hospitality operators to discuss service standards and digitization, while the Oyo State Government pledged support for investors to enhance security and infrastructure, particularly surrounding major cultural events like the World Egungun and Sango Festivals.
