Traditional leaders in Nigeria are engaging in various cultural and diplomatic activities. In Rivers State, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has accepted an invitation to attend the coronation of Mujahid Dokubo-Asari as the Amanyanabo of Elem Kalabari on December 19, 2026. The leaders met in Ile-Ife to discuss strengthening cultural, historical, and economic ties between the South-West and South-South regions.

In Ondo State, the Ondo Kingdom is planning to honor Americans Sway Calloway and Leila Steinberg with chieftaincy titles as part of the 20th anniversary of Oba Victor Kiladejo’s reign. This anniversary includes medical outreach, a golf tournament, and an art exhibition.
