Nikola Jokić has faced scrutiny following a series of public remarks. Initially, the Denver Nuggets star sparked a debate regarding the competitive differences between the NBA and EuroLeague, suggesting NBA players should experience the intense atmosphere of European arenas. This drew criticism from former players who questioned the level of competition in Europe.

Subsequently, Jokić faced backlash from American media following comments directed at Denver fans. After a home loss to the Golden State Warriors, Jokić expressed dissatisfaction with supporters who booed the team, suggesting that those who do not support the team should not attend games.
