In mid-October, NiMet predicted dust haze in the north, specifically moderate haze in Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Kaduna states. The North-Central region was expected to see isolated thunderstorms and light rain, while the southern region was forecast to experience thunderstorms and moderate rainfall. By late October and early November, the agency maintained similar outlooks for the north and North-Central regions, including potential thunderstorms in Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory. The southern region was expected to face significant weather activity, including thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across numerous states such as Delta, Lagos, and Anambra. NiMet advised residents to take precautions against heat stress, secure loose objects against strong winds, and for those with respiratory conditions to take medical precautions due to the dust haze. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-30: NiMet forecasts thunderstorms and dust haze across Nigeria NiMet predicts a period of dust haze in northern Nigeria and thunderstorms with moderate rainfall across the southern and central regions, advising precautions for respiratory health and heat stress. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nimet-forecasts-thunderstorms-and-dust-haze-across-nigeria ### 2026-10-19: NiMet forecasts dust haze and thunderstorms across Nigeria NiMet forecasts nationwide dust haze and thunderstorms in Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday, with moderate haze in northern states and rainfall across the North-Central and southern regions. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/nimet-forecasts-dust-haze-and-thunderstorms-across-nigeria --- Cite as: NiMet weather forecasts in Nigeria.
