Niterói is implementing several initiatives to promote its tourism and preserve its cultural history. The Niterói Leisure and Tourism Company (Neltur) has partnered with the Independent League of Tourism Guides (LIGUIA) to position the city as a major destination for visitors in Rio de Janeiro.

This partnership includes a series of ‘famtours’ scheduled from October to December, where groups of 25 guides will visit landmarks such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), Caminho Niemeyer, and local beaches. A seminar is also planned for June 2027 to reinforce the collaboration.

In a separate effort to protect local history, a legislative proposal has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) to designate Clube Central as an Immaterial Cultural Heritage of the State, recognizing its social and cultural contributions since 1920.
