Nitish Kumar Reddy is being positioned by Indian team management as a potential long-term successor to all-rounder Hardik Pandya, with a focus on the 2027 ODI World Cup. Early assessments from former coaches suggested that while Reddy possesses the necessary pace for the role, he has been ‘punching below his ability’ regarding his batting performance and consistency.

Following a match-winning performance against New Zealand in Christchurch, Reddy expressed his ambition to secure a permanent role alongside Pandya for the 2027 tournament. He also addressed concerns regarding his physical durability, noting that the workload of an all-rounder increases his injury risk and stating that he is working on his fitness to manage these professional demands.
