The North American automotive market has shown varied activity across different vehicle segments and regions. In the United States, specialized custom models, such as the modified Ram 1500 TRX, are being offered alongside standard consumer vehicles.

In Canada, the automotive market demonstrated resilience through the first half of 2026 despite economic headwinds including supply chain issues, trade barriers, luxury taxes, and rising fuel prices. While total new light vehicle sales fell approximately 0.7% compared to the same period in 2025, light trucks remained dominant, accounting for 87.2% of new light vehicle sales. 

Growth was observed in the intermediate SUV segment, which saw a 3.2% year-to-date increase, and compact luxury SUVs, which saw a 0.3% gain. In contrast, large pickups experienced a 4.1% decline. A stronger third quarter helped offset earlier weaknesses, specifically in the compact SUV category, which saw sales jump 7% between July and September.
