North Dakota State University and the University of Wyoming competed in the inaugural ‘Battle of the Basins’ at the Fargodome, marking the Bison’s first home game in the Mountain West Conference. The matchup featured a 28-pound replica oil drill bit trophy sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Council and coincided with the university’s 103rd homecoming.

North Dakota State secured a 28-0 shutout victory, improving their season record to 5-0. Quarterback Nathan Hayes led the offense with two rushing touchdowns, including an 8-yard score on the first play from scrimmage following an interception.

The Bison defense stifled the Wyoming offense, limiting the Cowboys to just 162 total yards and eight first downs. Wyoming, which fell to a 2-3 record, struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, including a possession that began at the Bison 35-yard line following a fumble recovery by linebacker Steven Perez. This shutout was North Dakota State’s second of the season, while Wyoming’s last shutout loss occurred in 2022 against Fresno State.
