The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has expressed support for an initiative by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to restrict dual citizenship for state officials. 

SDSM is calling for the proposed legislation to be reintroduced to the Assembly’s agenda for parliamentary procedure. The party demands that the restrictions apply without exception to ministers, members of parliament, government officials, and directors of public enterprises. 

SDSM argues that individuals receiving state salaries must demonstrate “clear and undivided loyalty to the country” and has criticized previous efforts to block such legislation, urging for immediate adoption to prevent double standards.
